A Few Of My Favorite Authors

Being a voracious reader of sci-fi and fantasy, I have a lot of favorite authors and I'm always happy to share information on a new author or book.

If you're interested in more urban fantasy - books, videos, art, or graphic novels - check out my store!

Demona - Book One

Of course, family first!  My niece has published her very first book. I've read it and it's very, very good. It's in the dark fantasy genre, with shapeshifters, dragons, elves, magic and more!

But just so you know, we're working on the Demona series (there's more than one book!) right now, so there will be a brand-new, revised version out as an eBook before the end of the year.

Yes, it will definitely be listed right here on my website!

Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson series

This is a way cool series that I stumbled over, having bought Moon Called at my local Friends of the Library bookstore. I am completely hooked and in fact the fantasy novel I'm writing was inspired by Moon Called. (Of course my novel isn't in Patricia Briggs/Mercy Thompson's world at all, it's probably two dimensions over and a quick left turn into my fantasy world.)

I think I've read every one of these books at least three times, including the latest, River Marked. Of course I'd recommend that you start with Moon Called, since it's the first book in the Mercy Thompson series.

For more information about Patricia Briggs and her books, you can go to her website at www.patriciabriggs.com. Or you can just click over to my store and do a search for Patricia Briggs.

Patricia A. McKillip

Patricia A. McKillip's books are like reading poetry in a prose form. The Riddle-Master of Hed is a personal favorite of mine. I just love this trilogy. It's been out of print for a while, but now there's a new edition with all three books in one. I was just chatting with a friend online the other day about this book. It's awesome!

Another favorite is The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. A tale of wizardry, revenge, and redemption, I love the way that McKillip paints a fantastic world with her prose.

The last that I've chosen to feature is Solstice Wood. McKillip's prose is more spare and less poetic than her other novels, but still an absorbing work of fantasy. I highly recommend it.

Andre Norton (1912-2005)

Andre Norton was the grande dame of Science Fiction and Fantasy and totally under-rated and ignored in today's world. Written from the 1950s into the 2000s, her books are fast-paced sci-fi at its best! A woman author whose imagination ranged far ahead of her time, Norton's books are engrossing classics of science fiction and fantasy. Although she's passed on, her work is being continued by several authors, with new books based on her original series.

Andre Norton inspired many of today's top authors -- and me! If you've never read Andre Norton, then today is the day to start your foray into classic Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I've selected a few of my absolute favorites, but don't limit yourself with just these few books, there's plenty more listed on Amazon!

Here's some of the new books in the Beast Master and Solar Queen series:
